Sugar-Free Gum Production Line Engineering
Industry: Food & Beverage
Project Type: Process Engineering | Mechanical Engineering | Controls Electrical | Civil & Structural | Control Systems Upgrade | Utility System Design | 3D Modeling
Project Overview
A confidential food and beverage manufacturer required engineering support for a new sugar-free gum production line, including equipment specifications, design, procurement, and installation. The project involved coordination among the client’s corporate and plant engineering teams, Matrix Technologies, and the client’s international partners.
Matrix provided multidisciplinary engineering services for ingredient handling and delivery, gum processing, packaging, dust collection, and supporting utility infrastructure to help integrate the new line into the facility.
Scope of Work
Matrix Technologies provided engineering and design services for the new production line and its supporting infrastructure. The scope included:
- Powder and liquid ingredient handling and delivery systems
- Continuous mixing and scoring process equipment
- Packaging equipment and dust collection systems
- Equipment specification and sizing
- Detailed P&IDs and equipment arrangement layouts
- Plan and elevation drawings, piping isometrics, and construction documents
- 3D modeling of equipment, connections, platforms, and structures
- Utility design, including air handlers, chillers, and electrical power distribution
- Utility demand calculations and packaging area design
- Floor loading evaluations and structural design
- Design of a two-level mezzanine supporting ingredient delivery equipment
- Additional mezzanine structures for continuous mixing utility equipment
- Mechanical, electrical, structural, and control systems engineering
- Procurement and installation coordination
