Chocolate Milk Processing Plant Expansion

Chocolate Milk Processing Plant Expansion
Industry: Food & Beverage
Project Type: Process Engineering | Mechanical Engineering | Piping | Automation | Controls Electrical | Instrumentation Engineering | Civil & Structural
Project Overview
A confidential food manufacturer was expanding an existing chocolate milk processing operation to increase capacity and improve rework capabilities. Early-phase engineering focused on adding a second processing line, expanding chocolate storage and material handling, and upgrading the rework process within the existing facility.
Scope of Work
Matrix Technologies integrated new equipment for the second chocolate processing line, including:
- Three chocolate storage tanks
- Chocolate tanker load/unload station
- Two bulk bag unloading stations
- Vacuum and pressure blowers
- Two hot boxes
- Four loss-in-weight receivers
- Six screw conveyors
- Filters, supply pumps, and agitators
- Associated transfer piping
The upgraded rework system included a new dump station, conche, two rework tanks, two roll refiners, and an inline mixer. Matrix also planned and coordinated the demolition of existing chocolate-making, rework, and raw material equipment to make room for the new systems.
Project Results
The client gained a second production line, more chocolate storage and bulk material handling, and a better rework system, all within its existing facility. The facility is now ready for higher production capacity and has more flexibility in its chocolate processing and rework operations.
